In some ways, having a pet is just like taking care of a baby since a pet cannot just be simply ignored and left upon himself. It needs care and love from is master in the same way that a baby will need his or her mother for warmth and affection. Leave them alone and of course they cannot look after themselves. When I gave my seven-year old son a Chihuahua for a pet, I thought that taking care of the pet was just a simple matter. In a few days time, my son gave up and told me that he was having a difficult time taking care of it because he had to bath, feed and walk it regularly as part of the dog’s routine. I then have to do all these things and then I told myself that it is as if I have another child to take care of. On top of these things, I also include the dog’s supplies as regular items of my grocery list since I had to buy him dog food, bed, shampoo and even dog toys. Buying dog toys was however difficult at first since I did not which dog toys I had to buy for my particular dog. When I went to the pet shop, I was surprised that there were many toys for dogs to choose from. I bought my dog a couple of dog toys and was glad that he was enjoying them otherwise I would have felt bad especially the toys were a little bit expensive. Taking care of dogs can really be expensive.
